Because of its small size, you can not be further than 30 miles from the ocean anywhere in Nova Scotia, and Harrington House and Bridgetown are centrally located in both west Nova Scotia and the Annapolis Valley. Day trips to everywhere in the province with the exception of Cape Breton are both possible and reasonable, and there is much to see and do. Port Royal where Samuel de Champlain built the Habitation is the site of the oldest settlement north of Florida on the North American continent. Only the first Spanish explorers created earlier settlements.
